In addition to the Delitzsch chocolate factory, our city has much more to offer. The city center captivates visitors with its magnificent medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque buildings and invites them to take a stroll through the winding alleys and historic streets along the well-preserved city wall. The Baroque castle in Delitzsch—the most beautiful ladies' castle in Saxony—is particularly worth seeing. It is open from Tuesday to Sunday and houses not only the museum but also the tourist information office and the registry office. Let yourself be enchanted by the unique atmosphere of Delitzsch's old town and experience history up close!
The best-known son of our town is Dr. Hermann Schulze-Delitzsch, who organized the world’s first credit unions for carpenters and shoemakers in 1847 and is considered the founder of the German cooperative system. His work can be traced in the Hermann Schulze-Delitzsch House.
The flooding of former open-cast mines has created a lake district which, with an area of 60 km², is the world's largest landscape art project of this kind.
The Goitzsche cultural landscape offers a wide range of leisure and recreational activities. Nature lovers can enjoy retreats in the southern part of the Goitzsche. With its extensive network of hiking trails this area is also particularly suitable for walking and cycling. You can get a cycling at the reception.
The north-western part of the Great Goitzsche Lake is bathing water. In this part of the Goitzsche swimming, surfing, sailing, water hiking and diving are permitted.
